Sawant was speaking to media persons after inspecting the delayed renovation work of Rajiv Gandhi Kala Mandir at Ponda. “About 80 per cent of the work has been completed and Ponda people will get a highly modernised theatre, which comprises modern technology and essential facilities,” informed Sawant. The Kala Mandir will have ‘arena theatre’, which can be viewed from 360 degrees, while the seating capacity has been increased from 800 to 1200. So far, Rs 40 crore has been spent on the project. Sawant was accompanied by GSIDC officials and the contractor.
He also inspected the construction work of the hospital in Shiroda constituency along with Industries Minister Mahadev Naik.
