PONDA: On Saturday a grand programme has been organised by almost 30 NGOs in Ponda to collectively and unitedly celebrate Gudi Padwa — the New Year of Hindus.
They will take a huge rally in Ponda town at 6.15 am to the beating of drums, dhol and tashas.
Before the rally, the Gudi will be unfurled at the VHP hall by Dr Rajendra Dev and Dr Dilip Kerkar at 5.45 am and later at a public meeting Prof Bhushan Bhave will deliver a lecture on the traditions of Gudi Padwa. Anirudh Bhave of Vishwa Hindu Parishad office at Ponda, speaking to Herald, said that they sell around 7000 to 8000 Gudis for the festival.
