The PMC had recently constructed a shed to dry manure generated from Organic Waste Convertors which are in opersidents demanded stoppage of the project claiming that manure kept to dry at the site attracted flies and feared disease outbreak.
According to information, based on the High Court directives, PMC started to develop garbage treatment facility at its site at Kerye and by 2014 PMC is to file a compliance report with the High Court.
However, residents are against setting up of garbage treatment facility citing environment and health-related issue.
Later, Councillors Irwin Soares and Sunil Desai also attended the meeting and assured villagers that the issue will be discussed at a special PMC meeting and will also take up the matter with the State government for a favourable solution.
