PORVORIM: The introduction of Major Port Authorities Bill, 2016, which was tabled in the Parliament, will have serious implication upon powers of the State as the act like Regional Plan and Goa Land Development and Building Construction Regulations will not be applicable on port assets, Minister for Town and Country Planning (TCP) Vijai Sardesai told State Assembly on Monday.
Sardesai said that the matter is being examined by the State government, who will appraise Central government about the likely implications.
The minister was replying to the question tabled by BJP MLA Carlos Almeida, who sought to know whether introduction of a Bill will infringe upon State powers.
Sardesai said that Bill seeks to vest the powers of planning and development of ports assets and port limits with the proposed major port authority to the exclusion of local town planning and development laws.
He said that the implications would be that Regional Plan for Goa will not be applicable on port assets and so also Goa Land Development and Building Construction Regulations, 2010.
The minister also said that financial implications are also part of it like non-payment of processing fee, development charges, infrastructure tax, licence fee, etc.
