MARGAO: The sub-standard work of the underground North Trunk Sewage pipeline stands exposed as a large portion of the National Highway at Old Market, Margao suddenly caved in on Wednesday.
However, fortunately not a single vehicle passed by at the time of the incident.
The incident took place at around 4.30 pm. The incident has left the residents fuming over the sub-standard work carried out by the concerned authorities.
Recently, the work with regards to the North-Trunk sewage pipeline was carried out from the South Goa District Collector’s Office to Old Market, Margao. The road was dug and later hot-mixed after the project was completed.
“Suddenly, we noticed that the road has caved thereby exposing the sub-standard sewage pipeline work. Fortunately there was no movement of vehicles at the time of the incident”, said a resident.
After receiving information about the incident, the PWD officials, besides traffic police rushed to the site and cordoned off the road.
