CANACONA: As per a communique from Additional District Magistrate, South Goa, the NH at Mashem, Voltar will remain closed on May 23 from 10 pm till 2 am on May 24 for urgent repair of cross drainage.
Recently, the local MLA Isidore Fernandes had done a joint inspection with the joint Mamlatdar Dattaraj Gauns Desai at Mashem L-curve on the NH and had pointed out to the clogging of the cross drain and possible flooding at the area.
Acting on this complaint, the ADM, holding charge of District Magistrate, South Goa, has passed an order on the basis of which the NH at Mashem will be closed temporarily on the above mentioned timings. The Assistant Director of transport, Canacona, has been directed to stop all heavy vehicles at Pollem border check post and at Gulem during the above prescribed timings. However, all light vehicles will be allowed to pass as the contractor assigned for this job is directed to carry out the repair work of the drain on half portion of the NH and after making it motorable, he would repair the other half.
