PONDA: Potholes have sprung up on Borim bridge, one of the busiest bridges in South Goa due to diversion of heavy traffic away from Cortalim bridge.
This reporter noticed as many as eight potholes on the bridge where steel are exposed to rains. All efforts to reach National Highways Authority of India engineers proved futile.
However, a private structural engineer who is acquainted with the facts said that since the steel rods are exposed to rains, water would seep into the main internal structure leading to their corrosion. This may weaken the bridge further, he added.
The National Highway Authorities immediately need to inspect the bridge and take necessary measures, he opined.
