CURCHOREM: In another development councillor of Curchorem-Cacora Municipal Council (CCMC) Pramod Damu Naik from Bagwada-Shirford ward on Monday sought withdrawal of his nomination on Monday which was filed on Friday for the post of chairperson of the council.
According to Chief Officer Ajay Gaude, he received the nomination from Naik on Friday and on Monday he sought withdrawal. “I received his nomination papers on Friday for the post of chairperson which is lying vacant and today (Monday) he submitted the letter stating that he would like to withdraw the nomination. But I am not authorized to accept his withdrawal of nomination and hence he can take the necessary decision as per the provision of Goa Municipalities (Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson Elections) Rules, 1969.” Informed Gaude.
Replying to Naik letter, Gaude said, “Any candidate may withdraw his candidature by notice in writing subscribed by him and delivered to the Presiding Authority, within fifteen minutes from the time of reading out the names of duly nominated councillors under the last preceding rule.”
When contacted Naik said he will be withdrawing his nomination on the voting day. “I have filed my nomination for the post to do something good but I feel that I will not get the required support therefore I decided to withdraw it and to support the councillor from BJP panel.” said Naik.
