MARGAO: Former Chairperson of the Margao market committee, Pratima Coutinho, on Tuesday said she is not averse to taking over the reigns of the panel once again if the 14-member group supports her candidature.
The post of market chairperson will fall vacant once Vice-Chairperson Berta Cardozo, who is holding the post, steps down or is voted out of office in view of the no-trust motion tabled against her by the 14-member group.
“I have not demanded the post of market chairperson. My support to the 14-member group has nothing to do with the post of market chairperson. It is purely for the group to take a call”, she said, even as Municipal Chairperson Dayanand Deulkar maintained that Pratima had done a good job as market chairperson during her previous stint.
She told the media that she had put in her best to check encroachments in the municipal markets, besides cracking a whip against unauthorised fast food outlets in the town during her tenure as market chairperson.
