HIHT celebrates International Youth day 
PANJIM: Heritage Campus of Goa marked International Youth day on August 12 by organizing a poster competition on the theme ‘Youth and Mental health’ under the motto ‘mental health matters.’ Six different groups participated in the contest. The competition concluded by judging the best art by panel of faculty members.
Restaurants open during Chaturthi
PANJIM: During Ganesh Chaturthi, many hotels in Panjim remain closed. It is during this time that several people keep searching for eating outlets. Keeping this in mind Café Bhosle and Casa Bhosle of Panjim have decided to keep their hotels and restaurant open on the day of the festival and also the next day.
VVA Award Day held at Margao 
PANJIM: Vidya Vikas Academy (VVA), Margao held its annual awards day on August 2, at Ravindra Bhavan. Scholarships and other prizes were awarded. Kenneth Da Silva was felicitated as top ranker at the ICSE examination. The chief guest was Prof Irfan Mirza, Director, V M Salgaoncar Institute of International Hospitality Education. President of Vidya Vikas Mandal, Ganesh Daivajna, Chairperson and Manager of VVA School Committee, Sheela Gaunekar, Principal of VVA, Dr Alan Rodrigues and the Vice Principals, Tania Monteiro and Joble Bijoy were also present. The annual school magazine was also released. A cultural programme followed. 
Knee replacement surgery held 
PANJIM: A 75-year-old ex-serviceman from Maharashtra was operated for total knee replacement at Vrundavan Shalby hospitals, Mapusa. He had developed arthritis in the knees which made his daily routine difficult Dr Venkat Banerjee, performed the surgery. The patient was able to walk within an hour of surgery. 
GoaInstawalk 2.0 attracts 42 enthusiasts 
PANJIM: Goa Tourism conducted the ‘GoaInstawalk 2.0’ in association with WelcomHeritage Hotels on August 9 and 10 and covered places like Mahadev temple at Tambdi Surla, Harvalem waterfalls and Fontainhas. This campaign is being conducted by Goa Tourism to engage better with the online audience on a personal level. The walk had 42 participants and a bus took the participants from Miramar Residency to visit Tambdi Surla’s 12th century Mahadev temple and Harvalem waterfalls. The walk in Fontainhas was hosted by Jack Ajit Sukhija.
LESA observes 14th anniversary
PANJIM: Loyola Ex-Students Association (LESA) celebrated their 14th anniversary on August 10. There was a thanksgiving mass in the school chapel concelebrated by Fr Peter Rodrigues, Fr Simon de Melo and  Fr Basil. The top 3 SSC rankers, retired teachers and school sportspersons were felicitated. The chief guest was Fr Peter Rodrigues, Principal of Loyola High School and lauded LESA for various enhancement programmes and camps. LESA President Francisco Xavier da Costa welcomed and  Johney be Good with Bushka entertained the guests. LESA Secretary Savio Rodrigues read the report and compered the function while Rene Mesquita proposed the vote of thanks. Meanwhile, a free canine camp will be held in the school quadrangle on August 15, between 9.15 am and 11.30 am.
Feast at Raj Bhavan chapel
PANJIM: The feast (Mass) in the Raj Bhavan Chapel will be held on Friday, August 15. Devotees are allowed to attend the mass to be held from 10 am onwards.
