Pre-monsoon hygiene warning to hotels, kiosks

The Directorate of Food and Drugs Administration has warned of strict action against owners of food establishments failing to maintain proper sanitation and hygienic conditions as per conditions laid down in their licenses.
The warning comes a month before the onset of the monsoon season, a time during which infectious diseases are common. In view of this hotels and kiosks have been directed to maintain proper hygiene and keep their surroundings clean.
The food establishments have been strictly advised not to keep their waste in closed dust bins and ensure that these are not left open at any given time. They have been warned of surprise checks by food inspectors to verify compliance of conditions in the licenses. The FDA has advised the general public to eat only in licensed establishments and if they see any unhygienic condition prevailing anywhere complaints could be made on 2220245 at extension 225.
