CM congratulated for completing 2 yrs in office

CALANGUTE: Parra Panchayat on Sunday congratulated Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar for completing two years in office.
Parra Panchayat offered Parrikar the first watermelon produced in Parra village in the presence of Calangute MLA Michael Lobo, Parra Sarpanch Delilah Lobo, panchas, Syngenta officials, farmers of Parra and villagers.
Addressing the farmers and villagers, Parrikar said: “The watermelons of Parra were world famous and we should do something to bring back the past glory by reviving the watermelon seed of Parra.”
“The seeds must have exhausted, but we need to preserve and continue with the cultivation culture in the interest of the next generation and Parra village in collaboration with companies like Syngenta, etc,” said Parrikar.
Thanking Syngenta Company for the watermelon demonstration project for Parra, Lobo urged Parra farmers to continue cultivating the water melons with support and collaboration of companies like Syngenta and hoped the Tillari Water Treatment Plant at Guirim will be a reality soon which will address water supply problems for drinking and cultivating.
Jagadeesha PS, CSR Head, said the company has been trying to extend its help and co-operation in farming including water melons and Parra is the 50th village to get the benefit of Syngenta Krish Mitr.
Martin Ghosh of Syngenta Krishi Mitr outlined the project activities and divulged related details.
On the occasion, farmers Kamla Satoskar, Luiza Fernandes, Vishnu Kambli, Gangaram Jadhav, Filomena Fernandes, Laxmi Sawal and Keshav Malik were felicitated by the chief minister.
Parimal Rai, Principal Secretary PWD and Andrew D’Souza of Syngenta were also present.
Keshav Malik and Pradeep Mayekar also spoke on the occasion, while Sarpanch Delilah Lobo proposed the vote of thanks.
