President of India Droupadi Murmu will arrive on a three-day visit to Goa on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, during which she will address members of the legislative assembly and also participate in the Goa University’s convocation ceremony.
August 22, 2023:
President Murmu will commence her visit by paying homage at the Martyr’s Memorial located at Azad Maidan in Panaji, the state capital. Additionally, she will be a guest at a civic reception held at the Raj Bhavan.
August 23, 2023:
The following day, President Murmu will attend the convocation ceremony of Goa University, to be held at Durbar Hall within the Raj Bhavan premises. During her stay, she will also have the opportunity to connect with members of vulnerable tribal communities in the coastal state. Furthermore, President Murmu will deliver an address to the legislators at the State assembly complex.
August 24, 2023:
Concluding her visit, President Murmu will explore some of Goa’s historic sites. Her itinerary includes visits to Fort Aguada, a 17th-century Portuguese fortification situated in North Goa. Additionally, she will tour the Basilica of Bom Jesus, a renowned church in Old Goa that houses relics of the 16th-century saint, Francis Xavier. The President’s journey will also take her to the iconic Shantadurga temple in Ponda. Subsequently, she will return to Delhi.
This three-day visit holds significance as it allows President Murmu to engage with the local community, address legislative matters, and appreciate the cultural and historical heritage of Goa.
