PANJIM: The foundation stone for the new Raj Bhavan will be laid on the occasion of 35th Goa Statehood Day on May 30, at the hands of President of India Ram Nath Kovind.
The State government will also felicitate all 13 Chief Ministers, who headed the State since Liberation, 1961.

Addressing media persons on Friday, Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant said that President of India will grace the 35the Statehood Day function, which will be held at Raj Bhavan, Dona Paula.
Sawant said that the foundation stone for the new Raj Bhavan, which will be constructed, within the premises of the existing facility, will be laid on the occasion.
The Chief Minister said that the project, constructed through the Public Works Department (PWD), will be completed within a year or two.
“The existing Raj Bhavan structure will be maintained. It will be prerogative of the Governor to decide what it wants to do with the old structure,” Sawant said.
Earlier this year, Raj Bhavan’s new spacious 1,000 seating capacity Durbar Hall, estimated cost around Rs 7 crore, was inaugurated by Vice President of India Venkaiah Naidu.
Sawant said that altogether 35 people, including 13 Chief Ministers of Goa, will be felicitated on the occasion.
The Chief Minister said that the people from the field of Education, Sports, Agriculture, Industries etc, who have contributed towards State welfare will be honoured.
Late Dr Bahusaheb Bandodkar was the first Chief Minister of liberated Goa while other CMs include Late Shashikala Kakodkar, Pratapsingh Rane, Churchill Alemao, Late Luis Proto Barbosa, Ravi Naik, Late Wilfred D’Souza, Luizinho Faleiro, Francisco Sardinha, Late Manohar Parrikar, Digambar Kamat, Laxmikant Parsekar and incumbent Pramod Sawant.
Meanwhile, on May 25, the State government will organise “Prerna Din” in association Directorate of Tribal Welfare in Panjim. Achievers from the tribal community will be felicitated during the event.
