VASCO: Even as the investigation into the New Vaddem LPG Vapour Cloud Explosion case is in the primary stage, complainants have alleged that there is a lot of pressure and influence being exercised by the defence on the witnesses and persons giving statements.
Naval Officer has been given another six days of Police custody in the matter. While the police officials attempt to find the necessary details through statements and records the complainant has informed that the legal team of Rajawat is exercising pressures on the persons that are being called to record statements. Meanwhile sources have informed that Anurag has applied for bail.
Brother and son of the deceased Shubham Singh Chauhan has informed that crucial persons who may have met the accused or seen the accused on the day of the crime are being asked to make statements in a manner in which Anurag is saved from prosecution.
“I have been informed by some persons that they are being asked to make certain statements to lead the investigation. This is condemnable,” he said.
“There is always a possibility of witnesses being influenced and evidences being tampered,” he added.
Anurag Rajawat is currently booked mainly under sections 304 (a) and 302 for dowry death of Shivani Rajawat and murder of her mother and his mother-in-law Jaidevi Chauhan. The cylinder being found kept on the stove and the knob being found open while the first respondents reached the explosion site i.e. the flat are pointing towards a premeditated murder. The demand of money by the Mother of Anurag Rajawat from the Chauhan family is also pointing out towards a dowry harassment that has also been testified by the brother leaving no room for a weak case.
It may be recalled that in an incident that occurred on Saturday, November 18 Jaidevi Chauhan aged 50 years and Shivani, wife of a Naval Engineer Anurag Singh Rajawat aged 26 years lost their lives in a mysterious explosion in Vasco.
After OHeraldo highlighted the deficiencies in investigation of what was initially being called a cylinder blast, was found to be an intentional gas vapour cloud explosion, which left the police red faced.
