Arguing that the “breakdown of electricity” at the GMC was a clear example of how Health Minister Laxmikant Parsekar has reacted in the most heartless, remorseless and barbarous manner, NCP called the attempt by the minister to blame the Electricity Department an absolute lie as it was clearly reported that the GMC being a 13 KV consumer is supplied by a very reliable power with underground cable starting from Bambolim Sub Station. There are two cables running parallel from Bambolim Sub Station to the GMC, one of which is a back up cable. Very recently the GMC morgue equipment which was newly installed also went out of order and not functioning for over two months, the NCP alleged.
The GMC has its own Sub Station to supply power within its complex.
The Electricity department has clarified that the feeder maintained by the department which supplies power to the Sub Station is completely normal. The Sub Station inside the GMC complex which was earlier maintained by the PWD Sub Division IV & V has now been handed over to a private agency, said the NCP arguing that such a disaster of this magnitude which resulted in scarcity of the water has never happened before in the Goa Medical College.
NCP also alleged that communal venom that is being spread is nothing short of manipulation by the State Government arguing that never in the history of Goa police protection was ordered for an entertainment programme of an ethnic Goan cultural event.
