MARGAO: Independent Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai on Friday launched development works worth Rs 1 crore in the Margao Municipal wards which form part of his constituency.
The works were inaugurated in ward 3 and ward 4 in the Municipal area. Developmental works in ward 3 include construction of drains and roads near Mauli Residency in Chandrawaddo amounting to almost Rs 9 lakh. Major works in ward 4 include construction of retaining wall at Marlem, which is one of the steepest areas in Fatorda and developmental works of pavers, gutters and concrete slabs behind Holy Spirit Church, BM service station, old Presentation School and PHE Quarters, all amounting to Rs 98 lakh.
Present at the inaugural proceedings were Margao Municipal Councillors Berta Cardozo, Sadanand Naik, Tito Cardozo and former councillor Ramdas Hazare. Also present were prominent citizens from Fatorda. Engineer Pascoal Noronha, Executive Engineer Div VI Madhu Yallurkar, Braulio D’Souza, Lionel Fernandes, Damodar Korgaonkar, Hassan Muzzawar and others were also present.
Addressing the gathering, Sardesai said that works have been initiated taking everyone into confidence and making no distinction amongst the citizens. Works have been initiated in areas covering all sections of society. Sardesai reiterated that road works in all wards will be initiated by the end of this year. Locals from the area thanked the legislator for taking up these long pending major developmental works and that Sardesai has got the works sanctioned being an opposition legislator and a vociferous one at that.
