PANJIM: Bharatiya Janata party (BJP) State president Sadanand Shet Tanavade on Monday warned that proper action would be taken against those who worked against the party supported candidates in the Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) and municipal elections

Though the municipal elections were not held on party lines, the political parties and MLAs had formed their panels. Those who contested on rival party panels and not as independents will definitely face disciplinary action, he said.
The BJP-backed candidates won 85 out of 105 seats in the CCP and municipal elections, Tanavade told reporters in the presence of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, Deputy Chief Minister Babu Ajgaonkar, Ministers Vishwajit Rane, Nilesh Cabral, Speaker Rajesh Patnekar and Panaji MLA Bbaush Monserrate.
“It’s a good mandate for us. People have reposed faith in us,” Tanavazde said giving credit to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and all his MLAs.
Praising monserrate, Tanavade said, “Monserrate used to say that he would get all the 30 candidates elected in CCP and he has succeeded in getting 25 seats for the party.”
Criticising Congress Party, Tanavade said the opposition leaders had no right to criticise BJP as they could not open their accounts in most of the municipal councils, whose elected were declared on Monday.
The BJP president claimed the party-backed candidates would win in remaining five municipal elections as well, even as election date for which was yet to be announced.
