MARGAO: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate Matilda D’Silva lost but elated with the vote share, AAP Goa convener Rahul Mhambre took to the twitter and thanked 2428 voters from Navelim constituency for voting for their candidate and assured them to continue to work for the people.

“It looks obvious from Pratima’s statement that Congress was least interested to contest Navelim ZP, they only contested to cut our votes and help Cipru win, that’s how they have been supporting the BJP and its allies all across Goa. We have got a good vote share and it is a clear message that people are fed up of Congress and the 2022 assembly elections will be a direct fight between BJP and AAP. In Panjim City Corporations elections people have shown support in AAP backed candidates, out of 11 candidates to whom we have supported, one won and 5 came second ”, said Mhambre.
Mhambre also thanked the voters from Curchorem and Panjim for electing their panel candidates.
Matilda echoed the same sentiments admitting that getting 2428 votes in such a short time of campaigning was a huge achievement for her vouched to continue her work for the people of Navelim, irrespective of the b-election results. She accepted victory is all that matter but pointed out that they still have time before the next test.
AAP leader Capt Venzy Viegas said they need to improve their campaign more to convince people about AAP model of governance. “We stayed away from hate politics and only pointed out the failures of the Congress whose MLA represents the constituency,” he said replying to Pratima’s claim that AAP caused Matilda’s defeat.
