Provide accommodation for tribunal in South Goa: Panel

PANJIM, JULY 26 The Ad Hoc Committee on Law has directed the State Government to take up the issue to provide suitable location for housing Administrative Tribunal in South Goa on top priority basis and complete it expeditiously so that people do not suffer.

The Ad Hoc Committee on Law has directed the State Government to take up the issue to provide suitable location for housing Administrative Tribunal in South Goa on top priority basis and complete it expeditiously so that people do not suffer.
Expressing its displeasure over delay caused in coming out with concrete plan regarding affairs of Administrative Tribunal, in its report which was tabled in the House today, it has directed the government to act fast.
The Ad Committee in its report has also pulled up the government for not providing adequate staff for the administrative tribunal and demanded that staff needs of administrative tribunal are immediately met.
The presiding officers are constrained because of inadequate staff and judges have to write judgements personally in long hand.
Currently, North Goa administrative tribunal has pendency of around 3000 cases whereas the South Goa Tribunal has 500 cases awaiting to disposed off.
In the view of huge pendency of cases, the Ad Hoc Committee has recommended that an additional presiding officer be appointed.
It has further suggested that Administrative Tribunal which is currently located on the third floor of Vaidya Hospital Building in Panjim market area, be shifted to a more convenient location which would be more easily accessible to public.
The State Government in its reply maintained that there is proposal to have branch of administrative tribunal in South Goa for which initiative
Microfilming of marriage records — Microfilming of marriage records is active consideration of the government.
A proposal for degitilisation of marriage records has been submitted to administrative department after an lysing tenders to obtain government approval and work orders will be issued on approval, told government in its reply to queries of Ad Hoc Committee on Law.
The Ad Hoc Committee report was placed on the table of the House on Monday.
