Pvt shack owners meet Parulekar, seek reason for allotment delay

PANJIM: Private shack owners on Monday met the Tourism Minister, Dilip Parulekar asking him about the delay in allotment of shacks.

Hundreds of shack owners had gathered at the Tourism department head office at Patto to find out the status of shack allotment process from the government.
Speaking to Herald, President of Goa Shack Owner’s Welfare Society (SOWS) Cruz Cardozo said, “We had come to meet the tourism minister and ask him about the allotment of the shacks.”
“We have been informed by Parulekar that the allotment will be carried out after Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority gives the needed clearances,” informed Cruz.
“Dilip Parulekar has also assured that he will meet the Environment Minister, Rajendra Arlekar on November 3. We have decided to wait till the meeting is conducted and after the meeting we will decide the next course of action, if the decision is not taken,” Cardozo told.
It may be recalled that almost 70 agitated shack operators from all over Goa had gathered in front of Paryatan Bhavan, demanding allotment of orders for 356 shacks along the Goan coastal belt, last month.
