CURCHOREM: Fear of being booked with an offence may have yielded desired results as the water supply department at Bansai-Curchorem restored the road which was dug to lay a water pipeline in the market area at Curchorem.

In a letter to the assistant engineer of Water Supply Department, Curchorem-Cacora Municipal Council (CCMC) Chief Officer Agnelo Fernandes had asked the department to restore the road to its original state wherever the road was dug to lay water pipelines in the municipal area at the earliest. He had threatened to lodge an FIR against the department if it failed to do so.

Following pressure from the CCMC, workers from the PWD were seen restoring the road opposite Syndicate Bank at Curchorem.

The PWD carried out haphazard work and dug the road to lay the pipeline.
