PANJIM: The Goa State Human Rights Commission has asked the Public Works Department to carry out urgent repairs to the dilapidated footbridge at Vithalapur, Sanquelim.
The commission had taken a suo-motu cognizance of a report in a local daily that appeared in July on the bad condition of the footbridge.
The bench presided by Justice (retd) P K Mishra has suggested that abutment of the footbridge should be cleaned post-monsoon and plastered with cement. Similarly, jacketing of the cement concrete for preventing erosion and periodical repairs have also been suggested to the PWD officials.
