A South Goa local was successfully treated for H1N1 influenza within few days, doctors at the Directorate of Health Services said. The 42-year-old person, hailing from Quepem earlier this month approached a private practitioner with cold flu symptoms.
The doctor suspected swine flu and immediately referred him to DHS where his throat swab samples were taken for testing. Without causing any delay, the doctors began his treatment against the influenza.
“We collected the swabs for testing and simultaneously began his treatment…At the same time counseled his relatives on do’s and don’ts…” DHS Director Dr Rajananda Desai said while speaking to Herald.
The patient, whose identity was not disclosed, was quarantined for a brief period till his treatment was on . Desai said that the person is now fully recovered.
