MARGAO: The Raia gram sabha resolved to revise the house tax and trade tax and also resolved to conduct a site inspection of the Sapana Developers project that has angered some farmers from the village and also constituted various committees.
It was decided to constitute a special committee including a surveyor to re-assess the trade tax and house tax presently levied by the panchayat.
It was also decided to have a joint inspection of the Sapana Developers project in the village as there were complaints from farmers that waste water was released in their fields making it difficult for them to cultivate them and earn their livelihood.
The panchayat was also asked to contact the police to keep a check on the migrants living in the village as some of them were suspect to be carrying on the flesh trade.
The panchayat as also asked to crack down on the various gaddas operated without obtaining any license from the panchayat.
The gram sabha also constituted the following committees: Road Safety and Traffic Management Committee, Garbage Management Committee, Supervisory Committee, Ward Development Committee, Amenities Committee, Production Committee and Social Justice Committee and Village Water and Sanitation Committee.
The duties and responsibilities of the Ward Development Committee was discussed at length and nearly one hour was spent in constitution of the committees. It was decided to constitute another ward development committee if necessary at the next gram sabha. The committees were constituted by only replacing the previous panchayat members who were not re-elected while all other members were retained. Members of the various committees constituted today would constitute the Village Development Committee.
