SANGUEM: Continuing with their raids on illegal sand mining, Sanguem flying squad led by Mamlatdar of Sanguem Pravinjay Pandit and assisted by Assistant Geologist from Director of Mines Sanford Fernandes, Sanguem police on Saturday raided yet another extraction site, at Sanguem.
Acting on reliable information, Mamlatdar Pandit and his team rushed to the remote Netravali village and seized around 240 cubic metres of illegally extracted sand from the local river.

The sand was stacked on the river bank in the close vicinity of a bandara and the operation of illegal sand extraction was going on for quite a long time.
Pandit informed Herald that the illegal sand extraction was conducted in a private property bearing Survey No 92 and 89/1 of Netravali village, in Sanguem Taluka.
Further, he informed that all the seized material was later dumped back into the local river with the help of an earthmover. “An FIR was also initiated against the alleged miscreants by the Sanguem police and those involved in the offence are likely to be arrested soon,” informed Pandit.
Meanwhile, this is the third such raid being conducted by the Sanguem flying squad during this week. The first and second raids were conducted at Uguem and Valshem in Viliean respectively.
