PONDA: A senior leader of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) on Sunday said that Ram Mandir will be constructed in Ayodhya.
Addressing a meeting at Ponda bus stand, senior VHP leader Madhukar Dikshit said, “There are several Ram temples in country, but why we want one more Ram temple in Ayodhya, that too where controversy is prevailing, because it is the sacred birth place of Rama. If verdict on Ram temple issue gets delay in the Supreme Court (SC), then the government should clear the way for Ram temple construction by bringing in an ordinance within framework of law; on lines of then Home Minister Sardar Patel issued ordinance for Somnath Temple.”
The meeting was attended by large number of religious leaders and Hindu religious swamis.
The religious swamis demanded that SC should give its judgment at the earliest.
VHP Goa President Santosh Mahanandu Naik said despite the country being a Hindus majority, their demand for Ram temple has been ignored in secular state and long pending in the Court.
He said Ram temple at Ayodhya can’t be compromised. Just like Jerusalem is sacred to Christians and Mecca to Muslim, it is the Ram Temple at Ayodhya.
Hansraj Swami of Padmanab Sampraday Bhartiya asked for unity of Hindus for construction of Ram Temple.
Swami Sevalal Maharaj Banjara Samaj Pramukh said Prime Minister Narendra Modi should lead the agitation for Ram Temple. If Ram Temple is constructed, then Hindus would become a powerful force in the country, he said.
Mukundraj Maharaj of Jeevan Mukthi Math of Siolim said, “We are waiting for the SC order on the issue.”
VHP President Ashokrao Chougule attended at the meeting.
The meeting was also attended by South Goa MP Adv Narendra Savoikar, Speaker Pramodh Sawant, former Shiroda MLA Subash Shirodkar, former MLA Damu Naik and many other BJP leaders.
