PONDA: Alleging that developers undertake hill-cutting activity without putting up mandatory approval display boards, a member of an NGO has urged authorities to take necessary action against such violations.
Boby Rodrigues of Shiroda informed that he is a member of NGO ~ United Goa Shanti Concern and wherever he noticed such illegalities in Ponda taluka, it was brought to the notice of the authorities.
“Last week, a developer was undertaking work without displaying board at the site at Torle-Shiroda. The activity was illegal as the developer had no mandatory permissions from the authorities concerned. I immediately informed Ponda Police about the illegality,” informed Rodrigues.
“Later, Ponda Police stopped the hill-cutting activity and forwarded the matter to the Town and Country Planning Department for further action.”
“On Tuesday, I came across another such hill-cutting activity at Dhavli-Ponda. There was no display board on mandatory permission taken and I immediately informed it to the police,” said Rodrigues.
Ponda Police visited the site and according to Ponda Police, the developer was undertaking work to construct retaining wall and had obtained necessary permissions from the authorities.
However, Rodrigues claimed, “I have doubts regarding the documents submitted by the developer, as the permissions granted have lapsed the time limit to undertake the work.”
