MARGAO, MARCH 29
The accused in the Russian woman rape case, John Fernandes Monday made his appearance before the Sessions court, days after the Judicial Magistrate First Class, Margao passed an order committing the case to the Sessions court for trial.
The court later posted the matter for arguments before framing of charges against the accused.
John’s legal counsel, Adv Mike Mehta said his client would seek leave of the court to file a revision application against the order of the JMFC rejecting his application for providing extract of the police station diary. “I had asked for extract of the station diary of the Colva police. The station diary is an important document which cannot be tampered with and keeps a track of the investigations”, Adv Mehta said.
He also disclosed his plan to file a revision application against the JMFC order rejecting his plea to expunge certain documents from the charge sheet field against his client, which are not part of the investigations.
Saying that the bail plea filed by his client will come up for hearing in the high court, Adv Mehta exuded confidence that justice will be done to John by the court.
