Thakare accused state minister Vishwajit Rane of “handing over Goa to builders” through the controversial 39A provision. He claimed the policy would adversely impact Goenkars and compromise the state’s long-term interests.

Stating that the Congress stands firmly with the people of Goa, Thakare demanded that 39A be scrapped immediately. He asserted that the party would continue to oppose any move that, in its view, benefits private builders at the cost of public interest.
