PONDA: Accusing the BJP-led State government of taking U-turns, former chief minister Ravi Naik has challenged the government to fulfil the assurances it had listed in its election manifesto.
Addressing a news conference, Naik said the BJP had failed and betrayed the people on key issues.
“The international rates of petrol per barrel are decreasing, but the BJP government failed to provide petrol at a cheaper rate and instead, increased the VAT despite the assurance to provide petrol at cheaper rates,” he said.
“The Medical Council of India reduced the number of seats from 150 to 100 at the GMC. Government’s failure to provide timely facilities will have an impact and it is injustice to Goan students and also to ST, OBC students, who were getting admissions based on reservation quota.”
“The Medical Council decided to reduce the seats, as the government failed to provide necessary infrastructure, laboratories, halls, faculty teachers, etc, at the GMC. Many hospitals in Goa lack doctors,” he added.
“The BJP betrayed and cheated on several occasions by taking ‘U turns’ by not fulfilling the assurances,” alleged Naik.
He also alleged that the government had cheated unemployed youth by promising them Rs 3500 to Rs 4000 per month in its manifesto.
