MARGAO: Former Home Minister, Ravi Naik, on Saturday dared the government to hand over the politician-police drug nexus case to the Central Bureau of Investigations if it has any evidence in its possession against him and son Roy.
The senior Congress leader also wondered how come a person who has so many criminal cases pending against him was appointed to head House Committee in the matter.
Ravi was addressing the South Goa district Congress workers and block presidents from South Goa at the district party headquarters in the city here on Saturday evening. “If there is any proof against me or son Roy, hand over the case to the CBI. Atala is right here in Goa. Why is the police not interrogating Atala in the matter”, Ravi asked, while terming the House Committee report as an attempt to malign him and his party on the eve of the Lok Sabha polls.
The former Home Minister cautioned the party workers to beware of the machinations of the BJP, saying the House Committee report indicting him and son was a clear attempt by his arch rivals and detractors to defame the him and the congress and ensure the victory of the BJP candidate Narendra Sawaikar in the coming Lok Sabha polls.
Meanwhile, the South Goa district Congress Committee President Subhash Faldessai has appealed to the party workers to complete the process of finalising the booth level committee by November end. He urged the workers to distribute the work so that the same is completed within a stipulated time frame.
