PANJIM: Former chief minister late Manohar Parrikar’s son Utpal has declared that he is ready to take up any responsibility that BJP wants him to.
Speaking to reporters outside the BJP headquarters in Panjim, Utpal also slammed his father’s critics, particularly Goa Suraksha Manch (GSM), stating that it has become a fashion to curse Parrikar as “it makes the critics famous”.
Addressing the issue about him being unfit to take on the mental of his father, he said that the people of Goa would have to judge him based on his work.
“People spoke lot about me, but I do not want to comment on that. They say I am not a political material. I only want to say that my work will decide what kind of material I am,” he said.
He stated that that People of Panjim and Goa will decide what kind of material he is.
“They said I am a thorough gentlemen; I welcome that and accept it. My father was a power centre for so many years; he was the chief minister; he was the defence minister controlling lakhs of crores of worth projects and I have gained a lot of experience from him,” he said.
On his priorities, he said, “If I am able to bring up people’s lives by a slight notch I will be happy.”
About the ticket for Panjim, he said, it is for the party to decide.
“I am told to work for Party in Lok Sabha polls and I am doing that right now. Let us see about the ticket later,” he said.
