PANJIM: Former deputy speaker Mauvin Godinho took pot shots at his party colleague and CLP spokesman Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco for asking for a ban on women covering their faces while riding their two-wheelers to the amusement of the chief minister.
“In my opinion this is an insult to the fairer sex. The issue should not have been moved in the House,” Congress Dabolim MLA Mauvin Godinho remarked after suddenly standing up while Parrikar was replying to the motion, catching his other colleagues by surprise and forcing Lourenco on the back foot.
“He can’t cast aspersions on me. He cannot say it is a wrong debate,” was all Reginaldo could muster by way of reply. Listening to the tête-à-tête, the chief minister cynically said, “This is not Congress house,” to the bemusement of all.
