MARGAO: Curtorim MLA Reginaldo Lourenco on Friday demanded action by the government against casinos employing foreigners, even as he accused the Parrikar regime for scuttling the Right to Information Act by dishing out incomplete or false information.
Addressing the media, Lourenco accused Parrikar for trying to scuttle information under the RTI on the casinos operated by Nepal Casino King Rakesh Wadhwa in the state. “I have clear information about the number of foreigners working in Wadhwa’s casinos, but the RTI information shows otherwise. What’s more, under the non-Goans category along with staff working from rest of India, Nepalis have been bracketed in this category. It is an elephantine scandal of putting Nepalese, who are nothing but foreigners,” he added.
He said that wrong information has been provided to show less number of Nepali foreigners working in Wadhwa’s casinos, adding that no information was given on details concerning the Sri Lankan Director of Wadhwa’s company.
“We do not know the credentials of these Nepali foreigners working in Wadhwa’s three casinos,” he said, while demanding to know why Goa requires Nepali staff to work in the casinos of Goa.
“Are the Goa casinos meant to provide jobs to these foreigners coming from Nepal? Why are Goans by and large assigned low-profile jobs such as drivers, stewards, bouncers, dealers, HR executive, whereas foreigners like Nepalese are given high-paying jobs of vice-presidents, casino managers, floor managers?” he asked, while seeking to know whether Chief Minister will open his eyes to the Nepali mafia running casino cartel in Goa headed by Wadhwa that has devastated the social life of the State’s villages.
The Curtorim MLA said he will raise a host of questions in the ensuing session of the Goa Legislative Assembly, including questions on casinos.
