145 workers of the Sports Authority of Goa (SAG) were sacked from their jobs by the sports department claiming that structures of the sports department in the state are over burdened with employees. Followed by a hue and cry by the workers, activist lawyer Ajitsingh Rane came into the picture and led the agitation. He demanded to reinstate all the employees who were terminated. However after a series of meetings with the Sports Director and hours of protests and agitation, the file to re-instate 75 workers has been moved to the cabinet. Speaking to Herald, Rane said, “Sports Minister is not giving the cabinet nod to the file. We were assured that the matter will be resolved in one week, but it’s been three months; they have failed to keep their word.”
