After the sharp showers on the evening of Mon, 5 October with the traffic clogging up in front of the Panjim Bus Stand, we took almost 30 minutes to move from the Merces Circle to the bus-stand in bumper to bumper traffic jam. This was just at the beginning of the upcoming tourist season where, with increasing traffic, one never knows how many hours one will spend bogged down at the entrance of Panjim. Thus it is time that the circles in front of the Panjim Bus Stand are completely removed which will allow increased road width for traffic to move. Not only that, the removal of the circles and marking of the lanes properly on the increased road surface by the PWD and the traffic police will allow for the 3rd Mandovi Bridge to descend and land on the Panjim side since otherwise it is understood that the GSIDC and planners are thinking of making it land only at the Merces circle. When it comes to public necessities, convenience is the first priority and then beauty on which principle the traffic circles clearly have to be removed. A JCB can do this in a couple of days during late night hours when traffic is less thus not inconveniencing commuters who need to get into Panjim.
