PONDA: Expressing strong resentment over delay in clearing the truck which fell on its side at Borim Circle on the National Highway on Friday, Borim locals have claimed that the vehicle is obstructing the smooth flow of traffic and threatened to protest on the streets if the same is not removed.
According to panch Luis Costa, the incident took place on June 17 as the truck rammed into a fence and later fell on its side.
The NH at Borim being the busiest road, the police and PWD have failed to remove the vehicle despite being informed about the mishap.
Costa further said that due to faulty design of the traffic island and circle, several mishaps have taken place, as heavy vehicles while plying along the stretch, have lost control and fell on their side. Recently, a LPG-laden vehicle fell on its side at the same spot.
“Locals have now demanded that the police and PWD officials immediately remove the vehicle. PWD officials should inspect the faulty traffic island and circle. Besides, there is no high mast lamp or streetlights at the spot making it an accident prone zone.
