MARGAO: The Salcete Scheduled Tribes Association has welcomed the announcement made by the Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Law and Justice MP Shantaram Naik on reservation of seats for scheduled tribes in the Goa Legislative Assembly.
Association President Luis Alex Cardozo said the reservation of seats for the STs in Goa Legislative Assembly was a long-standing demand of the tribal community and was pending before the Election Commission of India.
He expressed his gratitude and congratulated Congress President Sonia Gandhi for the introduction of the Bill in the Rajya Sabha.
