CURCHOREM: Sanvordem Block of Youth Congress (SBYC) threatened to come on the streets along with the people of Sanvordem constituency, if the mining transportation was not started at the earliest.
During the press conference held in the Congress office on Saturday SBYC President Sanket Bhandari said that mining was only major source of income for Sanvordem constituency and maximum youth depended on its activities.
“Due to halt in mining activities for the last few years many youth have lost their jobs and shops owners, mechanics and other minor establishments have lost their business, so in order to give relief to the affected people, we are demanding to start all the closed mines situated in Sanvordem at the earliest, ” he said.
Former Block President Shyam Bhandari demanded to fulfil the demand put by the South Goa Truck Owners Association to settle the issue of rate for transportation of the ore during their meeting along with some MLAs to be held on Monday, with the Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar.
We are also demanding to construct the mining bypass/corridor at the earliest to avoid hardships to the public particularly office-goers and students, he said.
