VASCO: Revenue Minister Atanasio ‘Babush’ Monserrate on Wednesday said that plans were afoot to construct a Revenue Bhavan in the Mormugao Taluka for the convenience and betterment of the people.
Monserrate disclosed this during his visit to the taluka as part of the Viksit Goa, Panchayat Chalo Abhiyan. He said that the major issues that were discussed during the meeting were regarding solid waste management faced by Mormugao Municipal Council. He said that the council should take up with the Urban Development Minister the issue of shortage of staff and drivers in the municipality.
Monserrate said that the government is in the process of identifying land for the proposed Revenaue Bhavan in the taluka where its offices will be housed. He said that he will follow with the South Goa Collector regarding acquisition of land belonging to the Comunidade. The Mormugao mamlatdar had already submitted a proposal to the South Goa Collector in this regard and ask him to expedite the matter.
Monserrate, who is also Minister for Waste Management suggested setting up of around 25 to 50 tons SWM facility in Mormugao taluka in addition to three SWM facilities set up at Saligao, Cacora and Bainguinim.
