PONDA: A bike rider and pillion were seriously injured after hitting a stray cow on the road in the wee hours of Monday.

According to Ponda Police Station Police Inspector Mohan Gaude, “On Monday, at 1.30 am, two youth on KTM Duke bike Abhishek Ulhas Gaude(21) from Adulshe, Borim and pillion rider Sahil Umesh Shet Talaulikar(20) from Talaulim were proceeding from Talavalim towards Ponda. On reaching Paunwada-Kavlem, they collided with a stray cow, followingly lost control and fell. Both were seriously injured. The cow died on the spot.
According to the locals, the road has been widened and vehicles are seen speeding especially those travelling towards Ponda and Vasco, who use Adpoi-Rasai ferry.
