Headmaster Fr Jerry Vaz further clarified before the Commission that the school will also not publicise the medical records of any of the HIV affected students. Accepting the submission made by the Headmaster and given that the matter is pending before the Supreme Court, the Human Rights panel headed by Justice P K Kisra said it is not necessary to proceed further in the matter.
The submission by the School Headmaster after the Counsel for Green Goa Foundation drew attention of the Commission that some of the students from the school were shifted to other school, adding that there should not be any objection on the part of the school in readmitting those students for the next academic year, if the students so desire.
Meanwhile, Green Goa Foundation Chairman Raison Almeida stated that the NGO will spare no efforts in the event the orders of the Human Rights Commission are not obeyed by the school. He told the media that the GGF will even knock the doors of the High Court to ensure that justice is done to the affected children. “The decision of the Human Rights Commission spells a victory for the Goan society at large and is another step towards protecting human rights and the fundamental rights of innocent children affected by HIV all over Goa”, Almeida added.
