PANJIM: Raising serious concern about imminent danger and disruption to life due to ongoing works of digging and cutting of roads including National, State and District roads, the North Goa District Administration has imposed a ban on all such activity from June 1.
Pre-monsoon showers hit the State with heavy rains lashing Goa on Wednesday. Even as the monsoon was set to approach anytime, the government, as well as private agencies, were involved in digging and cutting of roads for widening and maintenance.
The DM also ordered that the provisions of the Section144 of the CrPC 1973 promulgated come into force from June 1 and shall remain in force till August 31.
The North Collectorate said that no such activities shall be carried out without prior written permission from them. Meanwhile, as preparedness measures to tackle any kind of emergency/disaster/natural calamity occurring during the monsoon, the government has set up emergency control rooms that will remain open 24×7.
