PONDA: The internal road leading to KTC bus stand Ponda by the side of National Highway is greeting the visitors and tourist with stench and ugly look of mix waste of garbage strewn along the roadside.
Around 200 metres long roadside is littered with garbage such as plastics, medical and domestic wastes, which is stinking.
When asked Bandora Village Panchayat panch Rajesh Naik, said this garbage is thrown by the people from other areas. We conducted awareness several times and appealed the people not to throw garbage as higher secondary students who walk along this route from GVM Circle to KTC Bus Stand have to bear stench smell, but still the nuisance has continued. He said, “CCTV installation along this route would be best measure to control the menace.”
Rajesh and other locals demanded that government should provide special attention to maintain the KTC Bus Stand clean as it is not only in the heart of city but also centrally located place in the State and the tourists have to cross Ponda while visiting tourist places from North to South and vice versa.
