CANACONA: The bitumen carpet of two-km stretch road leading to Chapolim Dam from Gulem in Canacona has been totally washed away due to rains, leaving it unmotorable.
The most affected are the two-wheeler riders who have to negotiate the water filled potholes and loose black gravels which have rendered the stretch slippery.
Laxman Chapolkar, a resident, who uses this road daily to go for work, said that the locals and the tourists visiting the dam face inconvenience due to bad condition of the road.
“Water flows over the road during heavy showers and sometimes it is not possible to judge where the road is, which has resulted in many mishaps in the past. The authorities should repair the internal road on priority basis,” Chapolkar said.
