Rs 1.5 lakh stolen from vehicle

A gang of five robbers decamped with cash of Rs 1.5 lakh after stopping a liquor-laden tempo and threatening the occupants at knifepoint at Ambaulim-Quepem on Tuesday evening.
In a police complaint, Amar A Gaonkar of Gudi-Paroda stated the incident took place at about 4.30 pm when he along with three others were traveling in a liquor tempo (GA-08/U-1958) from Quepem to Cuncolim via Ambaulim.
When they reached near the Government high school at Shepem-Ambaulim, two youth riding a yellow Karizma motorcycle stopped the tempo.Three others riding a Bajaj Pulsar motorcycle also arrived at the spot.
They flung chilly powder on Gaonkar’s eyes and at knifepoint, snatched the bag containing Rs 1.5 lakh in cash. They later fled towards Cuncolim. PI Sudesh Narvekar is investigating.
