PONDA: Claiming that the problem of parking is not restricted to Ponda taluka alone, Ponda MLA Lavu Mamledar has informed that a Rs 150 crore Traffic Management Plan has been proposed for Ponda, to resolve the parking woes in the town.
“The number of vehicles has increased all over the State, but the roads have largely remained the same. Vehicle owners park their vehicles in a haphazard manner, thereby creating traffic congestion in Ponda town. The Traffic Police should punish such vehicle owners by imposing stiff fines on them,” said Mamledar.
“The only solution is to build multi-storeyed buildings to provide parking facilities. Such a parking project is coming up near the Santa Monica jetty in Panjim. This kind of parking complex is the need of the hour at Ponda as well,” said Mamledar.
“In order to resolve the parking problem in Ponda, a Rs 150 crore Traffic Management Plan has been proposed for Ponda. A consultant agency has been appointed for the project and the plan will be executed after the report,” he said.
