Rs 43 crore sanctioned for development of Calangute

CALANGUTE: Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on Sunday inaugurated the office of Calangute MLA Michael Lobo at Porba Vaddo, Calangute.
Parrikar inaugurated the office in the presence of MLA Lobo, North Goa MP Shripad Naik, WRD Minister Dayanand Mandrekar, St Alex Church, Calangute, Parish Priest Fr Cipriano D’Silva, Vasco MLA Carlos Almeida, Arpora-Nagoa Sarpanch Sushma Nagvekar, Parra Sarpanch Delilah Lobo and others.
Speaking on the occasion, Parrikar said the government wants the development of Calangute constituency and work has been started in many projects like sewage treatment plant, underground cabling of electrical wires, etc. “Almost Rs 10-12 crore has been sanctioned through PWD, while Rs 31 crore has been sanctioned through GSIDC for developmental works like road widening from St Alex Church, Calangute to Baga,” said Parrikar.
Fr D’Silva said, “We should forget about the past and carry on with the development for the future by undoing the wrongs, especially in Calangute village and bring back our past glory.”
Mandrekar also spoke on the occasion. Calangute BJP Block President Gurudas Shirodker welcomed the gathering, while Lobo proposed the vote of thanks.
