PANJIM: Directorate of Fisheries on Friday allocated Rs 9 crore for increasing fisheries production in the State under Blue Revolution and has prepared the State Action Plan 2016-17.
Blue Revolution focuses on increasing fisheries production and activity from aquaculture and fisheries resources both Inland and marine.
The objective is to increase overall fish production in a responsible and sustainable manner, to modernize fisheries with special focus on new technology, to ensure food and nutritional security, to generate employment and export earnings and to ensure inclusive development and empower fisheries and aquaculture farmers.
Centrally sponsored schemes have been restructured and merged and been accorded approval under Blue Revolution. Schemes under Blue Revolution includes financial assistance to traditional and artisanal fishermen.
for procurement of FRP boats as replacement for traditional or wooden boats including net, inland craft and gear, unit boats of appropriate size including fishing nets, fish and ice holding boxes etc, motorization of traditional craft, safety of fishermen at sea, cold rooms, ice plant, insulated truck, auto rickshaw with ice box, motorcycle with ice box, rejuvenation of urban/semi urban/rural lakes/tanks for fish culture and renovation of existing pond/tank (renovation and construction of farm).
